GRACE AND GRATITUDE
Your Pastor’s hopes for you at this time of our year!
“Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good,
His steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 100.5)
Dear church family,
My prayer for you is that Grace and Gratitude be felt in your hearts and known in your homes in these days. From the Psalms, the Prophets, to Jesus and Paul, these are foundational Biblical tones – And surely the fitting themes for this season – the November mood of Thanksgiving – melding into the Advent spirit of glad preparation. I pray you know it so in your ongoing life as a part of our Wyoming Church family. One of the great souls of our Christian tradition, Meister Eckhart, had it right when he wrote:
“If the only prayer you say in your whole life is ‘THANK YOU’ – that would suffice.”
To expand a bit, here is a Thanksgiving Prayer based on words of Ralph Waldo Emerson for use in this – or any – week:
We thank thee this day, O Lord, For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night, For daily health and food’s delight,
For loving family and dearest friends, For everything Thy goodness sends. Amen.
May the spirit of ‘Thanks’ resound in you, and through you this year – with God’s blessing and with mine!
