Here at WPC, we don’t just talk about loving our neighbors as ourselves. We love our neighbors by
putting our faith into action through various outreach efforts within our local community and beyond.
Our goal is to share God’s inclusive love without any hesitation. We do this by ensuring that all of God’s
children feel seen, heard, and appreciated, no matter their story or circumstances. We strive to make
sure that our neighbors not only survive but flourish.

There are a myriad of social issues that impact our neighbors. The two primary social issues that our
church focuses on are homelessness and food insecurity. We hope to positively impact these social issues through various approaches, including hands-on intergenerational activities, mission trips, Adult Education presentations, congregational discussions, challenging sermons, and opportunities for our children and youth to explore these social issues together in a safe and supportive environment.

Want to Get Involved?

We welcome anyone—regardless of your faith, age, stage, or abilities—to get involved in our mission
outreach ministry. We provide hands-on and inclusive opportunities so that everyone can contribute
their gifts in making the world a better place.

Below are the upcoming events for the 2023-24 programmatic year.

Mission Calendar

WPC Mission Partners

WPC partners with many different organizations that help us respond to the urgent social issues of our
day. Our church has three primary mission partners whom we work closely with to respond to
homelessness and food insecurity.

Family Promise

The mission of Family Promise is to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families
achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.  This organization provides
temporary housing, meals, and services, mentors families at-risk of experiencing homelessness and
helps them find jobs and affordable housing.

House of Mercy Mission

The House of Mercy Mission, a non-profit organization, is an inner city mission located at 573 Springfield
Avenue, Newark, NJ. The purpose of the Mission is to provide programs such as food, clothing and help
for struggling families in the community.

Additional Mission Partners

In addition to our three primary mission partners, we also collaborate with the following non-profit organizations:

How Does WPC Fund Mission Outreach?

Mission Outreach lies at the heart of WPC. As a mission-oriented church, our biggest financial
investment is in loving our neighbors. We are proud to report that 31% of our annual spending is
dedicated to outreach, the area in which we invest the majority of our time, talents, and resources as a
congregation. Outside of our budget, we annually give $57,000 to our mission partners.

WPC’s Annual Pumpkin Patch Mission Fundraiser

Every fall, WPC sells pumpkins during the month of October and retains approximately 35% of sales
proceeds. 100% of these proceeds fund our mission outreach projects. We work with Pumpkin Patch
Fundraisers, Inc, based on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Farmington, New Mexico. This organization
partners with churches and other non-profit organizations to raise funds by selling pumpkins grown on
their land. A portion of our proceeds from the patch also goes back to the Reservation.
Stay tuned every October to learn more about how you can get involved in our pumpkin patch, from
unloading the pumpkins off the truck, to selling and purchasing these pumpkins with a purpose.
