Children and Youth in Worship

We welcome all to join us for worship, no matter your age or stage! We understand that sitting for long periods of time during a worship service can be challenging for both our youngest disciples and their parents.

Young Children: We invite you to use our Prayground, a space in the sanctuary specifically designed for our children to play and interact during the worship service. Parents will need to monitor their children in this area until they go to Sunday School following the Children’s Message.

Upper Elementary: A Busy Box is located in the Narthex with lots of books, coloring books, and small sensory toys for their use in the pews with their families until Sunday School begins.

Youth: We invite all youth to join us for worship. We offer them the choice of attending Sunday School (6th-7th grade only) or staying in the service with their parents and friends for the duration of worship.

Children’s Sunday School

Dec 11 Kids 2

At Wyoming, we take seriously our baptismal vow to raise up our children and help them grow in their faith from birth through adulthood. Our Children’s Sunday School is a great opportunity to learn more about discipleship and make lifelong friends.
Sunday School occurs each Sunday during the worship service. Children will join us for worship, then leave after the Children’s Message for Sunday School. They can be picked up immediately following worship in the Sunday School room.
Children, Pre-K–7th grade, meet with our Director of Family Ministries, Tracy Policastro, for a short Bible lesson, prayer, and fellowship. You won’t want to miss this! Contact Tracy at tpolicastro@wyomingpresbyterian.org to receive more information.

Youth Group

We’re excited to offer our youth, grades 6–12, an opportunity to join together and put their faith into action through mission outreach projects and fellowship gatherings throughout the year. We understand that our youth have very busy schedules and find it hard to add another activity onto their plates. Yet, they have the desire to explore their faith in an intentional manner as they grow into informed adults.

In light of this, our Youth Group meets twice a month with no long-term commitment or expectation for them to attend every activity. The Youth Group plays an active role in determining what types of activities they wish to engage in so they are invested in their own faith journeys.

WPC’s Youth Group has a strong focus on hands-on community service projects that explore the root causes of homelessness and food insecurity. We also emphasize the importance of social interactions through intergenerational and youth-specific fellowship events and leadership in worship.

Baptism and Confirmation

In our tradition, the sacrament of baptism binds us together as a community, the assurance that the church will nurture each other in the faith. The Wyoming Church family welcomes anyone who wishes to be baptized, including older children and adults.

Confirmation is a chance for our youth to reflect upon their faith and start to understand what it means to be a disciple and member of the church. Each confirmand has a mentor to help walk them through their confirmation journey and will spend time with the pastor and other confirmands to learn more about what it means to follow Christ.

For more information on baptism or confirmation, please contact the Pastor, the Rev. Heather Brannon, hbrannon@wyomingpresbyterian.org
